Return On Investment Methodology
This analysis considers independent expenditures made during the 2014 general election, and whether it achieved it's objective. The return on investment we calculated counts money spent backing winners and opposing losers as successful, and money spent backing losers or opposing winners. Money spent on races that have not been decided is not counted. We will update it as results come in.
To be precise, we calculate return on investment as: ( independent expenditures made in the general election supporting identifiable candidates who won + independent expenditures made in the general election opposing identifiable candidates who lost) / ( independent expenditures made in the general election supporting identifiable candidates who won + independent expenditures made in the general election opposing identifiable candidates who lost + independent expenditures made in the general election opposing identifiable candidates who won + independent expenditures made in the general election supporting identifiable candidates who lost )
