Frank Raleigh Lautenberg (pronounced /ˈlɔːtənbɜrɡ/; born January 23, 1924) is the senior United States Senator from New Jersey and a member of the Democratic Party. He is serving his fifth non-consecutive term in the Senate, first serving from 1982 to 2001 and again since 2003. Along with Republican Senator Dan Coats of Indiana, he is one of two current Senators to have returned to office after having retired from the Senate. At age 87, he is currently the oldest serving member of the Senate.
